About the position

The Sr HW Test Engineer at Amazon Robotics is a hands-on role focused on developing and implementing test strategies for new robotic products. This position requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality solutions that enhance the Amazon fulfillment network. The engineer will work in lab environments, creating test plans, designing fixtures, and analyzing data to inform design decisions and verify product requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with program teams and development engineering to create test strategies that inform development and verify requirements.
  • Improve existing test methodologies and create new techniques for testing.
  • Develop new fixtures and equipment for testing purposes.
  • Provide data to inform design decisions throughout the development cycle.
  • Gather data in labs, design and build new fixtures, and help debug early prototypes.
  • Develop new methodologies and prepare the team for future challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Experience working in new technology or product development.
  • Experience in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Design experience of simple parts, assemblies, and fixtures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Electro-Mechanical systems.
  • Ability and desire to work hands-on in lab environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management of technical projects.
  • Experience designing and planning test conditions, test scripts, and test data sets.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise in testing of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience writing test reports and analyzing data.
  • Experience in automation or robotic systems.
  • Experience with FEA (Ansys and/or SW Simulation).
  • Understanding of safety systems.
  • Basic coding/scripting capabilities.
  • Experience creating test plans derived from functional design requirements.
