About the position

The iPhone team at Apple is seeking expert Hardware Design Engineers who are passionate about making impactful design decisions that enhance the user experience for millions of iPhone users worldwide. This role is pivotal, starting from the product concept phase and extending through to mass production. As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of iPhone product development, influencing overall design and leading innovative projects that push the boundaries of technology. You will be responsible for the design and integration of custom hardware into constrained systems, collaborating daily with multi-functional technology teams in a fast-paced environment. This position offers opportunities for international travel, allowing you to engage with global teams and projects. In this role, you will leverage your strong electrical engineering fundamentals, particularly in analog and high-speed digital design, to solve complex problems and drive design decisions. You will have the chance to work on sophisticated system architectures, analyze solutions, and make critical system design trade-offs. Your proactive attitude and ability to work in a team-based environment will be essential as you tackle system-level issues and drive them to closure. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are crucial for effectively communicating your ideas and designs to various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading multifaceted, multi-functional teams and familiarity with the challenges of taking a product from early architecture through to production. Hands-on experience with lab test equipment to debug difficult or intermittent hardware issues, as well as skills in schematic capture and PCB layout, are also important. You will be expected to have a solid understanding of signal and power integrity, low voltage power regulation, and prototype design and validation with custom silicon. Additionally, proficiency in scripting languages to assist with hardware development will be beneficial.

  • Design of sophisticated system architectures.
  • Ability to analyze solutions and make system design trade-offs.
  • Strong desire to dive deep into system level issues and drive problems to closure.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Proven record of leading multifaceted multi-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with the challenges of taking a product from early architecture through to production.
  • Hands-on experience with lab test equipment to debug difficult/intermittent hardware issues.
  • Schematic capture and rigid/flexible PCB layout experience.
  • Fundamentals of Signal and Power Integrity knowledge.
  • Low voltage power regulation and delivery experience.
  • Prototype design and validation with custom silicon experience.
  • Use of scripting languages to assist with hardware development.
