About the position
The Senior Indirect Tax Manager will join Amazon's International Indirect Tax (ITX) controllership team to enhance tax controllership processes. This role focuses on managing indirect tax risks, improving governance and controls, and leveraging technology solutions to streamline operations. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and project management skills to support major business initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Implement strategies to improve controls and reduce indirect tax risk.
- Define, implement, test, and continuously improve the governance and control framework to mitigate indirect tax risk.
- Perform systems and process assurance reviews to identify gaps and associated indirect tax risks.
- Work as part of teams supporting major cross-functional project launches from scoping through testing and launch.
- Provide internal and external audit support.
Requirements
- 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 10+ years of experience in indirect tax (VAT, GST) with a public accounting firm, major law firm, or in industry
- Project management skills/experience
Nice-to-haves
- Preferred CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT or similar credentials
- Experience of indirect tax compliance or indirect tax inspector in European jurisdictions
- Second language (e.g. German, French or Spanish) advantageous
- Significant experience with tax controllership in either an advisory capacity and/or a controllership environment
- Confident MS Excel user
- Experience working successfully with globally diverse teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, informal, and often ambiguous environment
- Ability to successfully work on multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Takes ownership and responsibility for their work under minimal supervision
- Organized, analytical, and methodical with strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on milestone-driven projects
- Strong desire to exceed expectations
