About the position

The Sr Industrial Engineer at Continental Tire The Americas, LLC is responsible for designing, integrating, and improving tire manufacturing systems. This role involves conducting time studies, analyzing equipment effectiveness, and implementing standard times in collaboration with production teams. The engineer will also participate in business meetings to enhance efficiency, manage production capacity, and facilitate improvement workshops on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate or improve tire manufacturing systems.
  • Carry out time studies and maintain standard time data.
  • Analyze losses data, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Total Effective Equipment Performance (TEEP).
  • Implement standard times with production and employee representatives/union.
  • Analyze available machine capacity and calculate required production manning based on production volume targets.
  • Collect and prepare data for capacity debottlenecking and strategic projects.
  • Participate in business team meetings and follow up on efficiency and losses development.
  • Ensure the Continental Business System (CBS) approach is applied within the cross-functional business team.
  • Follow up on the correct application of standards with production and support the development of standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct improvement workshops on the shop floor with production and stakeholders.
  • Define machine layout for production area and micro workplace layout for efficiency and ergonomics.
  • Define layout for material storage areas to facilitate efficient material handling and ensure FEFO principle.
  • Carry out material flow and work process analysis, lead time analysis, and job evaluation studies.
  • Develop future capacity, layout, and material flow concepts for the production area.
  • Facilitate improvement and growth projects and workshops to improve standards.
  • Define machine and process parameters to create requirement catalogues with production and engineering.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies comparing process key figures with other plants and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Calculate potential savings of identified measures in the production area.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of improvement measures.
  • Perform value stream exercises to identify areas requiring improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 2 years of related work experience in tire manufacturing, process engineering, maintenance, industrial engineering, or quality.
  • Experience preparing standard operating procedures focused on process efficiency and product quality.
  • Utilization of Structured Problem Solving (SPS) techniques, including A3.
  • Experience tracking and measuring process performance related to efficiency, capability, and yield in tire manufacturing.
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing tire manufacturing plant shop floor output evaluation.
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing losses data to determine areas of improvement in tire manufacturing processes.
  • Experience increasing efficiency and quality of tire manufacturing processes through process improvements and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Experience coordinating the work of cross-functional groups on tire manufacturing projects.
