About the position

The Sr Information Security Analyst at UT Southwestern is responsible for implementing and promoting information security best practices within a decentralized healthcare environment. This role focuses on safeguarding sensitive data, including patient records, by proactively monitoring security systems, performing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulations such as HIPAA. The ideal candidate will have a strong cybersecurity background, particularly in healthcare settings, and will work collaboratively with IT and support teams to enhance the organization's security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Direct responses to security incidents to prevent further loss and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Assist technical support staff in identifying and implementing appropriate security safeguards.
  • Respond to email gateway alerts and manage quarantine folder reviews.
  • Aggregate and analyze SIEM logs to detect and respond to security events.
  • Provide security training and awareness programs for users.
  • Review quarterly reports to identify security concerns related to physical access control systems.
  • Prepare technical briefings and reports on security incidents for leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, technology, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in information security.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CEH, CISM, or CompTIA Security+.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a Senior information security position.
  • Extensive experience with healthcare security regulations such as HIPAA and PCI.
  • Experience with security technologies like SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, and firewalls.
  • Experience in Higher Education or a similarly decentralized environment.
