About the position

The primary job function is to maintain and build the relationship between the Company and the agency force in an assigned inside territory. This position serves as the primary liaison to the agency force, which includes increasing sales, profitability management, training agents on Company systems, products, and processes, as well as facilitating the process of agency ownership changes within their territory. Essential job functions include reviewing and pre-qualifying new agency appointments, which encompasses the onboarding, training, and management of new agency appointments. The role is responsible for the growth and profitability management of an assigned territory. The successful candidate will develop expertise in Mercury's products, platforms, and services to provide solutions for our agents. Additionally, the position requires motivating and inspiring the assigned agency plant to achieve new business growth, a mix of business, retention, and profitability goals. The candidate will create sales visit plans and complete effective in-person sales visits within the assigned territory to drive the new business required to meet financial goals and sales call objectives. They will provide feedback and recommendations to management concerning market conditions, service levels, and the effectiveness of Company programs. The role also involves responding to written correspondence, comments, questions, and concerns from agents, consistently assisting management with special assignments outside of established responsibilities, and participating in studies through seminars/courses to contribute and apply expanded knowledge. Establishing a path to achieve semi-annual/annual production goals while monitoring and managing agency profitability is crucial. The candidate will review and monitor agent production reports, loss ratios, and hold phone agency performance discussions to improve and drive new business growth while monitoring overall performance in managing agents in their assigned territory. Promoting products and programs to agency partners via phone to ensure understanding of Company philosophy, procedures, and practices is also a key responsibility. The role may require occasional attendance at Regional and State meetings, group conventions, and/or agent-related tradeshows. The ideal candidate will show initiative and the ability to resolve a variety of complex issues with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Promote products and programs to agency partners via phone to ensure understanding of Company philosophy and practices.
  • Participate in a phone queue for incoming calls to assist with comments, questions, and concerns.
  • Collect competitive intelligence and industry trends to provide feedback to management.
  • Facilitate the process of agency ownership changes.
  • Analyze current business operations to develop appropriate recommendations.
  • Occasional attendance at Regional and State meetings, group conventions, and/or agent-related tradeshows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • 6-8 years of experience with sales and marketing or commensurate insurance experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exhibits leadership skills recognized by management and peers.
  • Professional written and phone communication skills to effectively collaborate with agency staff and team members.
  • Ability to interact professionally with agencies and team members to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to support Company policies and facilitate training sessions.
  • Ability to train agencies by phone.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to motivate, monitor, and develop assigned agencies to maintain a knowledgeable agency force.
  • Negotiating and mediating skills to achieve resolutions and explain Company policies.
  • Ability to analyze complex reports and multi-task assigned projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
