About the position

The Sr Instructional Designer will play a pivotal role in enhancing the learning experience within the organization by collaborating closely with subject matter experts to design and develop effective learning and practice experiences. The primary objective of this position is to facilitate learners in acquiring essential knowledge, skills, and competencies in a manner that is both effective and engaging. This role requires a deep understanding of instructional design principles and the ability to apply them in various educational contexts. In this position, the Sr Instructional Designer will be responsible for defining and documenting clear learning objectives that align with organizational goals. The designer will conduct thorough research and collaborate with subject experts to ensure that the instructional materials developed are relevant and impactful. This includes creating a variety of instructional materials such as courses, curriculum, student guides, and training manuals, all designed to optimize the learning experience. The role also involves generating layouts for learning supports and redesigning content to meet the specific needs of learners. The designer will create visual, audio, and interactive learning tools, as well as develop eLearning curriculum and content using appropriate authoring tools. Collaboration with managers and internal stakeholders is essential to ensure that all deliverables are timely and accurate. Additionally, the Sr Instructional Designer will develop testing and evaluation methods for all programs, design orientation programs for new employees, and present information using various instructional techniques, including role-playing, simulations, and group discussions. Evaluating instructor training materials and assessing different training modes, whether in-person or virtual, will also be part of the responsibilities. The designer may be required to perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document learning objectives.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with subject experts.
  • Create instructional material: courses, curriculum, student guides or training manuals.
  • Design content to optimize learning.

  • Collaborate with the manager and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Develop testing and evaluation for all programs.
  • Design orientation programs for new employees.
  • Present information using various instructional techniques or formats, such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, etc.
  • Evaluate instructor training materials, such as outlines, text, or handouts.
  • Evaluate training modes including delivery in-person or virtual, to optimize training effectiveness, training costs, etc.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree required, preferably in training and education, human resources, or business administration.
  • Minimum of 8 years direct experience developing, delivering, and managing training programs for all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools.
  • Familiarity with instructional design models and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles.
