About the position

Leidos is seeking a Senior Instructional Systems Designer (Sr. ISD) to support an Intelligence Community (IC) program in Bethesda, MD. This role is critical to the government and allows team members to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve success. The Sr. ISD will be responsible for designing innovative learning products that are instructionally sound, accurate, and engaging. The position requires the coordination of the development and delivery of all client training courses, utilizing engaging visualization and design techniques to enhance learning and development curriculum in support of a prime contract for the IC environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for graphics and the ability to manage a constant flow of projects in a dynamic environment. The Sr. ISD will apply instructional design and adult learning principles to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate instructional courses, assessments, job aids, and other learning deliverables. This includes creating deliverables for all phases of the course creation lifecycle, such as analysis documents, design documents (e.g., course outlines, storyboards, prototypes), and final learning deliverables (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Storyline courses, instructor-led course materials, job aids) that align with overall business goals. Collaboration with peers, leaders, and business partners is essential to translate business requirements into learning requirements and project scope, ensuring that learning solutions align with desired outcomes and meet Project Spectrum's quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop both in-classroom and web-based training (WBT) instructional materials and methods, including training plans, storyboards, narrative scripts, graphics, tests, and evaluation methods.
  • Identify and create instructional material to address field-driven performance shortfalls and client training needs.
  • Support course documentation, including course design documents, instructor/facilitator and student guides, course syllabi, practical exercises, assessments, and related materials.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure learning objectives are appropriate for the audience and align with Project Spectrum's business objectives.
  • Interpret subject matter content and develop original designs and visual styles using adult learning principles.
  • Utilize graphics software to design and produce interactive multimedia presentations to enhance course material.
  • Advise on imaging, video, and graphic matters as a member of the Course Development Team.
  • Research subject matter to convert text themes or ideas into illustrations or graphic designs.
  • Develop fully functional eLearning courses, instructor-led courses, blended learning courses, and assist in creating learning labs and exercises.
  • Ensure courses are Section 508 compliant.
  • Convey information and ideas clearly using a variety of media to engage the learning audience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 18+ years of experience, a Master's degree and 10+ years of experience, or no degree with 24+ years of experience.
  • Requires a TS/SCI with Polygraph level clearance.
  • Application of sound instructional design principles.
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience with SCORM, Section 508 requirements, and technical specifications for Learning Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8 or more years of progressive work experience in instructional design, preferably in the DoD or IC community.
  • Experience providing advice and guidance to senior management on multimedia formats and styles.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new technologies in the graphic art field.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator CS, Captivate, Storyline, Photoshop CS, InDesign, Premiere, Audition, Macromedia Flash, Visual Basic, 3D Studio Max, and Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Moodle.
  • Technical Editor experience.
