About the position

The Sr. Instrumentation and Controls Engineer at SSOE will play a crucial role in designing state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities for leading high-tech companies. This position involves collaborating within a design and engineering team to create innovative and complex designs while ensuring compliance with specifications and timely project completion.

Responsibilities

  • Create and design a complete I&C system or sub-system that meets project scope and customer requirements.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input materials to determine the best approach for preparing drawings.
  • Perform routine design/engineering calculations for layout preparation.
  • Establish instrument locations and instrument loop diagrams.
  • Size cables for instrumentation and low voltage wiring.
  • Layout and size cable trays for instrumentation and low voltage wiring.
  • Design schematics for power, control, and shutdown circuits.
  • Create layouts and schematics for DCS panels, PLC panels, junction boxes, and control systems.
  • Design communication systems using fiber optic cables, profibus, and/or Ethernet.
  • Develop AC and DC interconnects, conduit, and cable schedules.
  • Ensure designs adhere to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Apply established design techniques and modify design concepts as needed.
  • Uphold quality control by adhering to company and team design and CAD standards.
  • Foster collaboration and communication within multidisciplinary teams to optimize efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Perform field inspections and provide technical services for construction and equipment installation activities.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced staff to enhance their technical and professional expertise.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in an ABET-accredited engineering field is required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or other similar CAD programs) and Revit is required.
  • Demonstrated Instrumentation and Controls design or engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
