About the position
The Sr. Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at NorthStar Energy Services is responsible for overseeing the deliverables of concurrent projects from concept design to the completion of final project drawings. This role involves specifying controls equipment and instrumentation, performing engineering analyses, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. The engineer will lead controls engineering on projects and participate in quality reviews, procurement support, and client meetings.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering analysis/calculations for electrical elements including instrument index, data sheets, and specifications.
- Lead controls engineering on projects and participate in model reviews.
- Coordinate and communicate project-specific deliverables with team members of all disciplines.
- Research and integrate company standards, municipality requirements, and regulatory codes into project deliverables.
- Perform QA/QC of drawing deliverables to ensure compliance with safety-first design practices and industry codes.
- Review and respond to project RFIs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct field-related work to obtain design pertinent information as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of work experience in engineering, preferably in the midstream energy or petrochemical sector.
- US citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Strong attention to detail and process orientation with a focus on accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with NEC, Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199, IEEE, IES, NEMA, NFPA 70 (NEC), and API RP 500 standards.
- Experience in field site assessments.
