About the position

The Senior Integration Engineer at CommonSpirit Health is responsible for enhancing user experiences by developing and improving applications. This role involves identifying opportunities for improvement, designing and implementing solutions, and managing multiple complex projects. The engineer will also mentor junior engineers and troubleshoot complex software issues, ensuring high-quality integration of medical devices and systems within healthcare workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership through team motivation, coaching, mentoring, and delegating.
  • May be called upon to lead in major incidents or failures.
  • Participates in on-call rotations and major incident resolution.
  • Provides subject matter expert leadership for serial output and real-time HL7 interfaces; coordinates modifications; identifies issues and their resolutions; and tests to ensure data exchanges are correctly formed.
  • Heavy emphasis on clinical product lines and workflow.
  • Leads and coordinates code/peer reviews of multi-facility or application-focused development work to ensure alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Collaborates with application and project teams to define design and unit testing scenarios and test scripts in alignment with business and system requirements.
  • Leads cross-functional application development activities to achieve project objectives.
  • Designs, develops, tests, implements, and maintains solutions without direction.
  • Facilitates project meetings and dashboard status updates.
  • Analyzes and translates business requirements into interface requirements, maintaining expertise in Epic technology and ensuring PHI security compliance.
  • Ensures EAI deliverables are completed on time, on budget, and at the highest quality.
  • Researches and recommends appropriate application and/or development best practices and tools.
  • Develops and applies business knowledge in multiple functional areas.
  • Performs source code/versioning management function adhering to technical management guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Nursing, Biomedical Engineering, Field Operations, and vendors to support communication and medical device integration at the point of patient care.
  • Generates and/or contributes to whitepapers and/or reports pertaining to medical device integration efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Medical, or Business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 7-8 years of relevant experience required; 8+ years preferred.
  • Experience working with project life cycle and project management methodologies.
  • Previous experience with medical device EHR interfaces and analysis of clinical or ancillary department processes, workflows, and data requirements.
  • Medical Device/System configuration and/or administration experience.
  • Experience with HL7, HIPAA transaction sets, and EDI engines is highly desired.
  • Understanding of hospital healthcare workflows.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of information theory, computer science, and systems analysis to integrated operational systems for complex medical device systems.
