UC San Diego Health is seeking a Senior Integration Engineer who will provide expert knowledge in analyzing, designing, developing, and maintaining HL7 and electronic document management interfaces within a healthcare environment. This position will serve as a technical resource for the Corepoint Interface Engine, coordinating with internal and external IS resources, hospital end-users, and application vendors to support the development and implementation of integration efforts between Epic Applications, Hyland OnBase, other interface engines, and third-party applications. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with both technical and functional team members, translating user requirements into working interfaces. The role requires working under minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects while providing 24/7 support and maintenance of Corepoint interfaces. Under general direction, the Senior Integration Engineer will formulate and define system scope and objectives for systems integration. This includes devising or modifying procedures to solve complex problems, considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and desired results. The engineer will prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written, design, code, test, debug, and document those programs. The position is competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities, and may be responsible for multiple phases of one or more projects. Additionally, the engineer may provide guidance and training to less experienced analysts and programmers. The Senior Integration Engineer will need a solid understanding of the Epic EMR application and will work closely with project teams and application analysts to translate business needs into EDI functionality. Responsibilities include analyzing, designing, and maintaining HL7 interfaces, Electronic Document Epic data sets, and their master files. The engineer will provide system analysis, design proposals, programming, and maintenance for application systems, while also providing leadership in managing and supporting systems and associated resources. The role also involves project management responsibilities, where the Senior Integration Engineer will be responsible for their own project plans in conjunction with operational project managers to ensure timely and reliable product delivery. Specific duties include developing and maintaining project plans, directing work to other informatics, creating status reports, facilitating decisions, identifying and mitigating risks, collecting and interpreting data from various sources, and presenting measure and program results to clinical and operations executives. The engineer will manage evolving technical requirements and contribute to the development of new projects at all levels of scope and complexity.
