About the position

The Sr Interior Design Professional at HOK is responsible for executing complex interior design assignments and collaborating with project teams to ensure timely completion of various project phases. This role emphasizes creating holistic design solutions that reflect the aspirations of organizations, utilizing space, color, materials, and light to foster healthy and uplifting environments.

Responsibilities

  • Keep the project, or a phase of a project, on schedule.
  • Select and specify all interior architectural materials and finishes, furniture, lighting, and artwork.
  • Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to intended purposes, reflecting client goals and within project budget.
  • Conduct programming efforts such as space planning, layout, and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting, and color coordination.
  • Coordinate color and material palettes.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Render conceptual design ideas and prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
  • Prepare and conduct client presentations.
  • Prepare, correct, and update documents during schematic design and design development phases.
  • Solicit bids and assist Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of materials, finishes, and furnishings required.
  • Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provide support as necessary.
  • Implement and utilize HOK Standards for all projects and processes.
  • Provide support to all team members for specific field, style, or phase of interior design expertise.
  • Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff and deliver staff performance evaluations.
  • Foster a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
  • Commit to external and internal client service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in interior design or foreign equivalent.
  • 5 plus years' experience in interior design or equivalent education and experience required.
  • LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.
  • Portfolio documenting professional and/or academic design work, including notes indicating contributions for each project and specific role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, materials application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
