About the position

The Sr. International Financial Analyst at Trident Seafoods plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the company's global organization. Reporting to the Director of International Finance and Transformation, this position is responsible for financial analysis, accounting, and reporting for international subsidiaries across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The role requires a strong understanding of international accounting standards and proficiency in financial analysis tools, with a focus on driving process improvements and supporting strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial reports and analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Conducts in-depth financial analysis of global subsidiaries, including profitability, cost structure, and performance metrics; identifies trends, variances, and potential risks, and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensures accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, HGB, and US GAAP.
  • Assists in the preparation and review of annual financial statements and statutory filings for global subsidiaries.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts and investigates discrepancies.
  • Applies cost accounting principles to analyze product costs, profitability, and variances.
  • Implements and maintains cost accounting systems, including SAP CO-PA and Material Ledger.
  • Supports the financial operations of global subsidiaries, including budgeting, forecasting, and currency management.
  • Assists in the implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Collaborates with other Global Process Owners to identify, prioritize, and execute process improvement projects.
  • Provides financial analysis and support to assess the feasibility and impact of proposed changes.
  • Contributes to the development of standardized processes and procedures across the organization.
  • Supports the implementation of new technologies and tools to enable process transformation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and US GAAP accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools, such as Power BI and SAP.
  • Experience with cost accounting concepts, including CO-PA and Material Ledger.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills, including volume, mix, rate variance analysis.
  • Analytical background and experience working directly in a finance environment modeling revenues, costs, and expenses.
  • Experience with an ERP system, such as JD Edwards, Oracle, or SAP (preferred).
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10%.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • Experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Database (BI design, SQL, Access) experience.
  • Fluency in one or more foreign languages (Japanese, German, Chinese preferred).
  • Experience working in a multinational corporation.
  • Experience in public accounting.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange and currency risk management.
