About the position

The Senior Inventory Accountant will play a crucial role in managing inventory accounting processes for a stable, publicly traded manufacturing company. This position involves overseeing month-end close activities, inventory reconciliations, variance analysis, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close for inventory
• Conduct perpetual inventory reconciliation and evaluate inventory balances
• Value and reserve inventory in alignment with GAAP
• Execute inventory account reconciliations
• Conduct variance analysis and financial reporting
• Document processes, control activities, and key controls
• Define, create, and track inventory KPIs
• Review gross margins
• Analyze inventory adjustments
• Assess slow-moving and at-risk inventory items and create plans to minimize them
• Produce master maintenance
• Review product costs and landed costs
• Analyze product, transportation, storage, and other costs for process improvement changes
• Manage cycle count and inventory observation process
• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all inventory items related to the financial statement audit
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all audit-related requirements on inventory items.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 5+ years of inventory accounting experience
• Advanced Excel skills
