About the position

The Senior Employee and Labor Relations Investigator plays a crucial role in the Employee and Labor Relations Center of Excellence (COE) by conducting thorough and confidential investigations into employee and third-party complaints, policy violations, and grievances. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders throughout the investigation process. The role requires a high level of analytical skills and the ability to work independently, making sound recommendations based on investigation findings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations of complaints of misconduct involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, grievance, compliance and/or policy violations.
  • Conduct thorough, quality investigations of any level of complexity with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct in-person, on-site interviews with complainants, witnesses, and individuals against whom complaints are filed.
  • Identify, collect, analyze, and preserve documentary and physical evidence related to investigations.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and detailed briefings to relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parties involved in the investigation process.
  • Prepare comprehensive written investigation reports that clearly identify issues, relevant policies, and findings with sound recommendations.
  • Review investigation findings and recommendations with relevant parties and ensure implementation of recommendations.
  • Monitor workplace compliance with recommendations made during investigations.
  • Maintain investigation summaries, notes, results, and other documentation in case management system.
  • Assess investigation data and metrics to proactively identify risk areas and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and use metrics to improve investigation processes and reduce future risks.
  • Participate and sometimes lead projects within Employee Relations/Labor Relations teams.
  • Develop and effectively deliver job-related training.
  • Carry out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Employee and Labor Relations (ER/LR), Human Resources (HR) or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience conducting effective workplace investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, EEO regulations, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to build and maintain credibility with all levels of the organization and with Legal Counsel.
  • Strong analytical, fact-finding, evidence gathering, and internet research skills.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, and facilitation of strong working relationships.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, organize and prioritize work, and work collaboratively with other functional teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive, job-related information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications with an emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
