About the position

We are currently recruiting for a Senior IT Support Technician for a prominent company located in Pleasant Grove, Utah. This is a contract position that will last for at least 6 months. The Senior IT Support Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day integrity and monitoring of the existing infrastructure to ensure adherence to committed SLAs, consistency across server platforms, and proper integration of infrastructure components. This position will also participate in the feedback loop to the architecture and engineering team in order to capture any gaps in design or documentation. The Senior IT Support Technician will take part in on-call efforts, work evening and weekend shifts, and follow operational procedures for incident, change, configuration, and problem management processes. Responsibilities include responding to NMS alerts, correlating technical issues, documenting incident details, and correlating incident patterns. The technician will also be tasked with proactively monitoring systems to prevent customer-facing issues, interfacing with other IT groups and business units, and troubleshooting and resolving technical problems. This role requires a strong understanding of both Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments, as well as experience with VMWare vSphere. The technician will need to possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Additionally, the role demands exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to identify tasks that require automation and implement the necessary automation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the existing infrastructure to ensure adherence to committed SLAs.
  • Participate in the feedback loop to the architecture and engineering team.

Requirements

  • 4+ years relevant experience in large scale operations environments.
  • 4+ years experience with Linux/Unix systems administration (Debian, RHEL, and/or SuSE preferred).
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages (shell, Perl, or Python).
  • Knowledge of Linux RPM and/or DEB packaging systems.
  • Experience with Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with VMWare vSphere.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • 3+ years experience with LAN/WAN technologies.
  • 2+ years experience with OSPF and BGP routing protocols is a plus.
  • Knowledge of network and host security.
  • Ability to identify tasks which require automation and implement required automation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possesses strong product and industry knowledge.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Associate Degree or equivalent.
