The Senior IT Network Engineer position is a critical role within the Orange County Sheriff's Department's Technology Division, responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and training of personnel on the daily support of the department's data and network infrastructure. This includes a comprehensive range of responsibilities such as the design, installation, implementation, and documentation of LAN, WAN, and WLAN equipment, routers, switches, network appliances, VPNs, firewalls, and VOIP telecommunication systems. The incumbent will ensure acceptable uptime and performance of the network infrastructure, plan performance improvements, and prevent security risks and threats. The role requires monitoring the health, stability, and operability of a high-performance data center network, a high-performance wireless infrastructure, and a wide area network that spans across various locations. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, along with 3-5 years of experience working with high-performance platforms, troubleshooting, and managing application network infrastructures. The Sheriff-Coroner/Technology Division consists of approximately 150 personnel organized into six specialized operational and technical units. These units provide a high level of operational and technical expertise to various public safety functions, including law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, and more. The division is responsible for centralized countywide coordinated communications systems for all local public safety agencies, installation and maintenance of communications and electronic equipment, and all IT operations across the Sheriff's Department.
