About the position

The IT Project Manager III is responsible for managing medium to large IT projects within a cross-functional team environment. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including team leads and application build teams, to ensure successful project execution. The position requires adherence to established project management guidelines and the ability to balance competing priorities while fostering teamwork and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Manages medium to large assigned IT projects independently.
  • Gathers input from team members to create a comprehensive project plan.
  • Monitors project progress and ensures critical implementation criteria are met.
  • Coordinates with Architects, Team Leads, Resource Managers, and IT Leaders to ensure adherence to department processes.
  • Facilitates project meetings and develops reporting dashboards for Senior Leadership.
  • Conducts post-project lessons learned sessions to identify successful elements and areas for improvement.
  • Identifies, tracks, and manages risks and issues within assigned projects.
  • Provides status reports to steering committees and utilizes various project management methodologies.
  • Keeps current with business and strategic goals and understands the roles of other service providers.
  • Coaches and influences project team members to ensure accountability and action.
  • Determines project scope through collaboration with executive sponsors and key users.
  • Makes presentations to staff on work-related issues and serves on committees as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, or Engineering.
  • 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in healthcare or higher education field preferred.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as JIRA, Smartsheet, Clarity PPM, or similar.
  • Detail-oriented with strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive computer literacy, including Microsoft Project, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification may be required within a year of hire; Agile certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Service, JIRA, Smartsheet, Clarity PPM or Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software.
  • Agile certification (PMI-ACP, DASM, or CSM) preferred.
