The Sr. IT Project Manager is a vital member of a cross-functional team where teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning are essential. This position is part of the IT Project Office and works closely with team leads, application build teams, and various stakeholders, including business, financial, and operational representatives. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide end-to-end project management services for medium to large projects, adhering to established guidelines, standards, and conventions for project management and business requirements documentation. In this role, the Sr. IT Project Manager will independently manage assigned IT projects, gathering input from team members to create comprehensive project plans that include tasks, activities, dependencies, timelines, milestones, resource requirements, and deliverables. The manager will monitor project progress, ensuring that all critical implementation criteria are met. Coordination with Architects, Team Leads, Resource Managers, and IT Leaders is crucial to ensure that the project team adheres to departmental processes for quality assurance, migrations, promotions, end-user acceptance, validation, training, and support. The Sr. IT Project Manager will facilitate project meetings, develop and maintain reporting dashboards for Senior Leadership to communicate project status, and conduct post-project lessons learned sessions to identify successful elements and areas for improvement. Risk management is a key aspect of this role, as the manager will identify, track, and manage risks and mitigation plans, escalating issues as necessary. Status reports will be provided to steering committees, and the manager will utilize various project management methodologies as appropriate. Staying current with business and strategic goals is essential, as is understanding the roles, processes, tools, and architecture of other University service providers. The manager will engage in professional development opportunities, such as webinars and case studies, to refine skills and stay informed on project management topics. Building and maintaining internal departmental relationships is also a critical component of this position. The Sr. IT Project Manager will coach and positively influence project team members to ensure accountability and action, and will collaborate with executive project sponsors and key users to determine project scope and obtain necessary approvals. Additionally, the manager will make presentations on work-related issues and serve on committees as requested.
