About the position

The Sr IT Project Manager will oversee large-scale IT projects, particularly in the healthcare sector, focusing on public health lab systems. This role requires extensive project management experience, particularly with automation implementations, and involves collaboration with state and local government entities. The position demands strong leadership and communication skills to manage project risks, costs, schedules, and quality while ensuring successful project delivery within scope and budget.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with state and local government on IT projects.
• Manage large, complex automation implementation efforts in the healthcare industry.
• Oversee system deployments with multiple clients.
• Deliver projects within scope, budget, and schedule under aggressive timelines.
• Manage project risk, cost, schedule, quality, testing, and communications.
• Lead and implement COTS and SAAS projects.
• Write RFPs and engage in technical writing.
• Manage Scrum team backlog and Kanban flow using agile-based tools.

Requirements

• 12+ years of project management experience, preferably in healthcare.
• PMP Certification from PMI; Scrum Master certification is a plus.
• Experience with public health lab systems and programs.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Hands-on experience with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project).
• Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
• Technical architecture/infrastructure knowledge, including multiple hardware platforms and operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with MS Office and SharePoint.
• Experience managing legacy system upgrades and data conversion activities.
• Understanding of iterative and incremental development principles.
