About the position

Innova Solutions is seeking an IT Mergers & Acquisitions Senior Support Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting the IT infrastructure side of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) of Engineering and Design firms into our enterprise. The position is home-based with travel expectations of up to 25%, including 6-8 weekends per year for cutover moves and remodels. The ideal candidate will possess client-facing IT field support experience and will be responsible for contributing to, supporting, and in some cases leading M&A efforts and projects from start to finish. The Senior IT Support Specialist will work closely with the enterprise IT and M&A Departments to ensure a smooth transition during the migration process. This includes direct user support, data migrations, configuration, and installation of new physical equipment, as well as the decommissioning of legacy equipment. The role requires a thorough understanding of the IT topology of the acquisition, which may involve a variety of new and old physical servers, networks, SANs, and other IT equipment. Key responsibilities include ensuring that legacy data, email, Teams, and systems are migrated to the enterprise standard IT infrastructure, assisting users during the transition phase, assessing and documenting the use of legacy IT infrastructure, and performing data and email migration tasks using third-party tools. The specialist will also configure and install new IT infrastructure equipment, maintain IT server rooms, develop decommissioning plans for legacy equipment, and handle office consolidations and remodels. Additionally, the role involves fielding help requests from end users and acting as a team lead for junior support staff, providing advanced technical support for engineering-specific software products.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and understand the IT topology of the acquisition, including new and old physical servers, networks, SANs, and other IT equipment.
  • Ensure legacy data, email, Teams, systems, and any needed items are migrated to the enterprise standard IT infrastructure.
  • Directly assist users during the transition phase both in person and virtually.
  • Assess and document how legacy IT infrastructure is used at an acquisition and how existing data will be migrated/archived onto modern cloud-first solutions.
  • Perform data and email migration tasks from legacy to modern cloud-first solutions using third-party tools.
  • Configure and install new IT infrastructure equipment onsite, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and servers.
  • Physically set up and maintain IT server rooms, ensuring IT standards are consistent across the organization.
  • Develop a decommissioning plan and schedule to eliminate all legacy IT equipment.
  • Handle various office consolidations, moves, and remodels.
  • Field incoming help requests from end users via Teams, telephone, and work orders.
  • Act as a team lead for junior support staff.
  • Act as 2nd and/or 3rd level support for advanced technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 10+ years' experience with IT infrastructure cutovers or buildouts is required.
  • Mergers and acquisition experience on the IT side is preferred.
