About the position

The Sr Java Backend Developer role is a full-time position based in St. Louis, MO, offering a hybrid work environment. The primary focus of this role is to develop and maintain robust backend systems using Java and microservices architecture, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. The developer will work on critical production systems and contribute to the design and implementation of large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend systems using Java and microservices architecture.
• Design and implement large-scale distributed systems and web services.
• Write well-designed, testable code and ensure code quality through automation and build tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications in a cloud-based environment.
• Work with open source software and contribute to open source projects.

Requirements

• Strong experience in Java development with a solid understanding of microservices.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Angular.
• Experience in building and operating critical production systems.
• Solid understanding of modern API design and RESTful principles.
• Proficient with Git or other source control management systems.
• Strong experience with automation and build tools like Maven, Ant, and Gradle.
• Good understanding of cloud-based application deployment and maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Jenkins and Kafka for CI/CD and messaging.
• Knowledge of PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry) for cloud application deployment.
