About the position

As a Senior Linux System Administrator at ManTech, you will play a crucial role in securing our nation by delivering enterprise infrastructure capabilities for a global workforce engaged in a variety of missions. This position is part of the Enterprise Infrastructure Services organization, which oversees the Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) for the organization. EIT serves as the backbone platform for all enterprise users, and the Data Center & Compute Services team is responsible for collaborating with customers, Integrated Product Teams (IPT), and vendors to provide essential EIT services. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and administering virtualized platforms using VMWare. You will build, install, and configure infrastructure-related software, ensuring that systems are optimized for performance and reliability. Your expertise will be critical in troubleshooting higher-level problems and resolving complex technical issues, especially in scenarios where documentation may be lacking or non-existent. Additionally, you will analyze and resolve intricate problems associated with server hardware, applications, and software integration, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's IT infrastructure. This position requires a proactive approach to system administration, with a focus on maintaining high availability and security of systems. You will work closely with various teams to ensure that the infrastructure meets the needs of the organization and supports its mission objectives. Your ability to communicate effectively and work under pressure will be essential as you navigate the challenges of this dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy and administer virtualized platforms using VMWare.
  • Build, install and configure infrastructure related software.
  • Troubleshoot higher-level problems and resolve complex technical issues where documentation is lacking or non-existent.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications, and software integration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 14 years' experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Understanding of networking components is desired.
