This role involves providing ongoing systems administration, technical support, upgrades, and troubleshooting services. The successful candidate will be responsible for full coverage of Linux or Unix system administration functions to support the DevOps tool sets. This includes installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining middleware such as JBoss, Apache, Tomcat, and Nginx to facilitate the DevOps processes. The Sr. Linux Systems Administrator will work closely with application and product teams to understand their specific automation requirements and implement an optimal Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipeline. In addition to these responsibilities, the role requires writing unit tests and integration tests to validate infrastructure code, identifying engineering defects in the existing code base, and constantly improving code quality. The administrator will maintain configuration and support documentation, manage assigned project components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives, and develop automation through programming and scripting to enhance the DevOps tool sets. Collaboration with software development teams is essential to define their DevOps CICD pipeline and processes, as well as to implement and configure the necessary DevOps tools. The role also involves incorporating AWS native cloud services to enhance the performance and resilience of the DevOps tools and infrastructure. The candidate will contribute to the design, documentation, and publication of DevOps and cloud standards, principles, guidelines, and best practices, while seeking opportunities to increase the business value of the DevOps tool chain through research, application team input, automation options, and proof of concepts (POCs). This position is critical in supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission-critical development and sustainment program, which includes designing, building, delivering, and operating a network operations environment to address emerging cyber threats.
