The Sr. Logistics Manager (SRLM) plays a crucial role in overseeing the efficient and safe movement of raw materials, waste products, and finished goods across various company facilities, disposal sites, suppliers, and customers. Reporting to the Recycling Operations Director, Vice President of National Transportation & Logistics, or Director of Logistics, the SRLM is tasked with ensuring that logistics operations align with business objectives and economic conditions. This position requires a strategic approach to logistics management, focusing on cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance with environmental regulations. The SRLM is responsible for establishing and monitoring performance metrics, developing process improvements, and implementing cost reduction initiatives to ensure timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction. This includes negotiating contracts and adhering to rates, lease agreements, and government regulations related to transportation. The SRLM must also determine the appropriate transportation methods, such as rail, barge, or truck, to optimize logistics operations. Continuous collaboration with direct reports, third-party contractors, and various internal teams is essential to achieve these objectives. In addition to operational responsibilities, the SRLM will monitor the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of goods movement and storage. This involves analyzing data to forecast demand and plan improvements, as well as addressing customer and shipper complaints. The role also includes budget management, ensuring that logistics operations remain within approved spending limits while responding strategically to external factors like legislation and fuel costs. The SRLM will oversee the maintenance of equipment and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, contributing to a safe and effective logistics environment.
