About the position

The Sr. Software Development Engineer/Machine Learning Engineer (Sr. SDE/MLE) will play a pivotal role in the development of multi-modal and multi-lingual Large Language Models (LLMs) at Amazon's Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team. This position involves leading the charge in developing innovative algorithms and modeling techniques that enhance large model training using advanced hardware. The role is crucial for creating impactful products and services powered by Generative AI, leveraging Amazon's extensive data sources and computing resources.

Responsibilities

• Quickly learn cutting-edge technologies and algorithms in Generative AI to contribute to building the best LLMs.
• Develop and maintain key platforms for developing, evaluating, and deploying LLMs for real-world applications.
• Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility with team members.
• Collaborate closely with Applied Scientists to process massive data and scale machine learning models while optimizing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
