About the position

The Sr. Mainframe Developer position at MSys Inc. involves working on the Employee Travel Core Support project in a hybrid work environment. The role requires a strong understanding of IBM mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, and DB2, and focuses on bridging the gap between design and implementation while ensuring quality outcomes in an Agile/Scrum delivery model.

Responsibilities

  • Provide solutions involving collaboration, portals, enterprise search, dependent applications, and interactive forms.
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum delivery model within a complex hardware and software environment.
  • Guide industry best practices, guidelines, and governance for mainframe applications and DB2 processes.
  • Manage requirements related to business asks and understand cross dependencies on other applications or processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance to ensure quality outcomes in the end product.
  • Perform benefit analysis for IT solutions and recommend technology direction.
  • Articulate ideas and bring new ideas to the forefront frequently.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and developments in web application technologies.
  • Supervise and direct assigned staff, participate in recruiting and performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Mastery of IBM mainframe, COBOL, JCL, and DB2 programming.
  • Skills in relational database modeling and creating advanced SQL queries/procedures.
  • Knowledge of source control concepts and ability to commit code to repositories such as Git, SVN, TFS.
  • Knowledge of JIRA for work item management.
  • Experience in creating and executing unit tests using established unit test frameworks.
  • Ability to travel to off-site locations.
