About the position

This position focuses on the installation and customization of the z/OS operating system using the IBM ServerPac process. The role involves applying regular fixes, analyzing and debugging issues, and planning for installations and upgrades, including new customer transitions. It also includes providing technical assistance for disaster recovery and business continuity processes, ensuring system improvements, and supporting managed services customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance regarding Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and Business Continuity Processes (BCP)
  • Ensures system improvements and/or modifications are implemented
  • Develops, enhances and/or supports technical approaches for audits and scalable implementations of mainframe environments
  • Identifies and resolves performance issues
  • Facilitates project planning by establishing work estimates, target dates, milestones, and schedules
  • Participates in the development and improvement of installation standards
  • Provides technical training and/or mentoring to team members
  • Provides primary support for software-related problems in assigned areas
  • Fulfills ServiceNow requests related to software in assigned areas
  • Installs, implements, maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots client infrastructure solutions
  • Plans, develops, installs, configures, maintains, supports, and optimizes client network hardware and software
  • Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, and responds to system performance issues
  • Ensures integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers and during data transfer
  • Performs database installations, updates, tuning, performance monitoring, and backups
  • Researches and recommends infrastructure products and services
  • Conducts transaction, performance, and security audits
  • Performs routine system backups and restores
  • Participates in Disaster Recovery exercises and planning
  • Follows change control, incident response, and testing processes
  • Communicates and enforces data storage retention policies
  • Monitors, analyzes, and predicts trends for equipment performance and data growth
  • Creates scripts to automate common tasks
  • Addresses and updates customer incident tickets and change orders
  • Creates required reports in response to business user needs
  • Develops, documents, and maintains policies and procedures for systems administration
  • Develops reusable assets for the Managed Services practice
  • Works with account management on client relationship support
  • Partners with the Continuous Improvement team on pre-sales support and service design
  • Provides technical perspective for proposal generation
  • Works with project managers on project plans and timelines
  • Complies with time compliance and entry guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of IT engineering work experience with infrastructure solutions
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and supporting IBM mainframe software products
  • Experience performing system management functions including software installations and configuration management
  • Alternatively, 9 years of IT Engineering experience with 5 years in infrastructure solutions
