About the position

The Sr. Manager 2, Business Operations position at the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the Contracts and Grants Unit, Financial Support Team, Banking Team, and Business Operations Unit. This position plays a critical role in strategic planning, ensuring that contracts align with organizational objectives, and providing guidance to State Office Managers. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with various departments to manage fiscal activities and administrative functions, while also being a member of the DCSS Executive Leadership Team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Contracts and Grants Unit, Financial Support Team, Banking Team, and Business Operations Unit.
  • Monitor, review, and develop contracts to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance, guidance, and direction to State Office Managers.
  • Implement and maintain a management system to monitor service quality, quantity, and timeliness across programs.
  • Collaborate with various offices to support and manage fiscal activities and administrative functions.
  • Plan and assist with operational and programmatic activities for the department.
  • Recommend and implement policies and procedures.
  • Direct subordinate managers and staff, influencing agency policy as needed.
  • Communicate administrative priorities around data warehouse and enterprise-level trainings.
  • Perform other professional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or related field with five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role; OR nine (9) years of related professional experience including five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role; OR five (5) years of experience at the lower level Sr. Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership skills in managing and motivating staff.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and agency rules and regulations applicable to child support services.
  • Ability to work effectively at multiple organizational levels and with various project teams and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning, organizational management, and critical thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing subordinate supervisors in a human service delivery program or comparable agencies.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a busy work setting.
