About the position

The Senior Manager of 3D / Digital Product Creation at Gap is a pivotal role responsible for spearheading the digital transformation within Gap Specialty and Gap Factory brands. This position is designed for a leader who can effectively engage and build strong cross-functional relationships to drive the digitalization of product creation. The successful candidate will create and implement a sustainable long-term Digital Product Creation (DPC) roadmap, while also defining and achieving key DPC metrics that focus on cost savings, time efficiency, improved sustainability, and overall operational efficiency across various divisions. In this role, you will be expected to deliver high-quality, consistent products—both digital and physical—that delight customers. Your project management skills will be crucial as you take accountability for your work, ensuring that every detail is meticulously attended to. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit are essential, as you will be working closely with various teams. A strong technical background in rendering photo-realistic apparel products in 3D is required, along with a solid understanding of patternmaking, fit evaluation, sizing, grading, and garment construction, particularly in a top-tier fashion retail environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for mentoring and teaching digital product creation techniques across the brand. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, supervisory skills, leadership capabilities, and process management proficiency. You will be tasked with developing, retaining, and attracting key talent within the organization, ensuring that the team is equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Snr Director in authoring & implementing End to End Digital Product Creation workflow across all divisions of GAP Specialty & GAP Factory.
  • Create & Manage digital fabric, trim, and block libraries.
  • Liaise with Design, Brand Management, & Production teams to provide DPC support.
  • Research and integrate emerging 3D technologies into the product creation process.
  • Lead software enhancement testing to validate and update Gap Inc. 3D workflow, tools, and standards.
  • Drive for continual improvement and innovation, sponsoring new initiatives.
  • Facilitate cross-brand ideation sessions with 3D Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify best practices & industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with GAP Tech Team on digital blocks and new products.
  • Develop and maintain a virtual fit protocol.
  • Develop, communicate, and maintain Brand 3D technical standards internally & externally with vendors.
  • Develop and conduct 3D training courses for Tech Design & Design teams.
  • Foster open communication and a collaborative team environment with all business partners.
  • Challenge business partners when appropriate to prevent re-work, redundancies, and inefficiency.
  • Manage project hindsight and reporting to leadership & cross-functional partners.

Requirements

  • BA, AA or Certification in Apparel Manufacturing, Design, Patternmaking or equivalent.
  • 8 years' experience in the Apparel Industry including 2D/3D patternmaking, construction, & fit evaluation, with full knowledge of total production timelines and adherence to critical deadlines.
  • 3+ years of people management experience is ideal.
  • Proven track record in leading others to execute on an aligned business strategy driving results for the Brand.
  • Expertise in fit and patternmaking, including grading, construction, and manufacturing methods for multiple product types, categories, and divisions.
  • Able to create and carry out development plans at all levels for team growth and development.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, working well as part of a cross-functional team and able to influence and interact at all levels of the organization, including interfacing regularly with senior/executive leadership team.
  • Cultivated and maintained strong internal and external relationships with program providers and business partners.
  • Demonstrated executive presence, presentation, influencing, and collaboration across a leadership team.
  • Experience leading with and without authority to influence others and drive decision-making to achieve desired service levels.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and motivation to learn new skills and knowledge.
  • Expert level computer skills in Centric PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop, Gerber, Lectra, Optitex 2D, Microsoft Office Suite, MIRO, Browzwear/Style zone, & CLO/CLOSET.
