About the position

The Sr. Manager, Accounting at Driven Brands is responsible for overseeing general accounting activities, ensuring the integrity of financial records, and providing financial support through variance analysis. This role involves managing a team of accounting professionals, guiding them in achieving departmental goals, and participating in financial statement reviews. The position requires a strategic approach to resource allocation and policy recommendations, while also ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general accounting activities, including preparation, maintenance, and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements.
  • Prepares, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions ensuring integrity and compliance with accounting policies.
  • Provides financial support through monthly variance analysis for Income Statement & Balance Sheet.
  • Participates in financial statement reviews with FP&A and Operations.
  • Oversees the work of at least four professional individual contributors in executing departmental goals.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines resource allocation to meet schedules and goals.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates within established company policies.
  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures affecting the organization.
  • Works on diverse issues requiring evaluation of various factors, including current business trends.
  • Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods for obtaining solutions.
  • Acts as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and resolve technical problems.
  • Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements, potentially with budget responsibilities.
  • Establishes annual goals and manages people and work to meet those goals, measuring progress and making adjustments as needed.
  • Manages or performs day-to-day accounting, month-end close process, and year-end financial reporting.
  • Manages or performs daily accounting transactions and assists with month-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Evaluates accounting systems and procedures, recommending improvements for efficiency.
  • Works with internal and external audit partners to support quarterly/year-end audits.
  • Assists in developing internal audit practices and internal controls for public company readiness.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating the external audit process, overseeing fieldwork.
  • Leads or performs ad hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Accounting.
  • 6 years of relevant experience in Public Accounting, Industry, or a mix, including experience at companies with global operations.
  • Proven experience dealing with sensitive employee information.
  • Must be able to manage daily and month-end workflows to meet accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Certified Public Accountant is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP modules is a plus, but not required.
  • Self-starter, skilled in diagnosing and solving problems.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office applications.
