About the position

As the Senior Product Manager at C&S Wholesale Grocers, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the company's Private Brands. This position is designed for a dynamic individual who is passionate about product management and has a strong focus on customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive Product Business Plans that align with the company's strategic goals. This includes managing new product items from concept through to launch, which encompasses new item setup, forecasting, and marketing support. Your ability to write detailed product development briefs will be essential in outlining the requirements for both new and existing product categories. In this role, you will own the success of the product development process, ensuring that implementation aligns with product goals. You will act as a customer proxy, testing and measuring products against established success criteria, and continuously monitor customer feedback to enhance the overall customer experience. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising teams to drive initiatives that support business needs. You will also be responsible for leading cross-functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes, including retail systems and site merchandising. Your responsibilities will extend to meeting with customers to gain insights into their perspectives on product placement, pricing, and promotions. You will develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, continuously improving product design to enhance efficiency while finding cost savings that do not compromise customer experience or value. Additionally, you will manage a team of up to three direct reports, inspiring trust and fostering an inclusive work environment while driving for results and innovation. This position requires travel, estimated at 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and completing Product Business Plans
  • Managing new items from concept through launch, including new item setup, forecasting, and marketing support
  • Writing product development briefs to outline requirements
  • Defining product requirements for new and existing product categories
  • Owning the success of the product development process and ensuring alignment with product goals
  • Elevating the customer experience continually
  • Acting as a customer proxy to test and measure against success criteria
  • Monitoring and responding to customer feedback
  • Improving the customer experience throughout the entire customer journey
  • Collaborating on Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising initiatives
  • Leading cross-functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs
  • Meeting with customers to understand perspectives on product, placement, price, and promotion
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Continuously improving and simplifying product design to deliver improved product efficiency
  • Finding cost savings without impacting customer experience or value
  • Managing and improving the product assortment for the company's owned private brands
  • Managing a team of up to 3 direct reports

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of related work experience, preferably in the food industry, in product or brand management in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on data
  • Ability to effectively manage consumer expectations and balance these against company needs
  • Experience in developing and evolving products and product portfolios
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders across multiple business units and senior management; supervisory experience preferred
