About the position

As the Senior Product Manager at C&S Wholesale Grocers, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the company's private brands. This position requires a strategic mindset and a customer-centric approach, as you will be responsible for defining and prioritizing product requirements based on customer needs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product offerings and ensure alignment with business goals. Your leadership will be crucial in managing the product development process from concept to launch, ensuring that all new items are set up effectively and supported with appropriate marketing and promotional strategies. In this role, you will develop comprehensive Product Business Plans and manage new items through their lifecycle, including forecasting and marketing support. You will write product development briefs that outline essential requirements and define product specifications for both new and existing categories. Your ability to elevate the customer experience will be paramount, as you will act as a customer proxy, testing and measuring products against established success criteria. Monitoring customer feedback and continuously improving the customer journey will be key responsibilities. You will also lead initiatives in Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising, fostering collaboration across various departments to support business needs. Engaging with customers to gather insights on product placement, pricing, and promotions will help you refine the product assortment for the company's private brands. As a leader, you will manage a team of up to three direct reports, inspiring trust and fostering an inclusive work environment while driving results and innovation. Your role will also involve identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising customer experience or product value.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and complete Product Business Plans
  • Manage new items from concept through launch, including new item setup, forecasting, and marketing support
  • Write product development briefs to outline requirements
  • Define product requirements for new and existing product categories
  • Own the success of the product development process and ensure alignment with product goals
  • Elevate the customer experience continually
  • Act as a customer proxy to test and measure against success criteria
  • Monitor and respond to customer feedback
  • Improve the customer experience throughout the entire customer journey
  • Collaborate on Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising initiatives
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs
  • Meet with customers to understand perspectives on product, placement, price, and promotion
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Continuously improve and simplify product design to enhance product efficiency
  • Identify cost savings without impacting customer experience or value
  • Manage and improve the product assortment for the company's owned private brands
  • Manage a team of up to 3 direct reports

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business
  • 5-7 years of related work experience, preferably in the food industry, in product or brand management in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on data
  • Ability to effectively manage consumer expectations and balance these against company needs
  • Experience in developing and evolving products and product portfolios
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders across multiple business units and senior management; supervisory experience preferred
