About the position

As the Senior Product Manager at C&S Wholesale Grocers, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of the company's private brands. This position requires a strategic mindset and a customer-centric approach, as you will be responsible for defining and prioritizing product and brand requirements based on customer needs. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product offerings and ensure alignment with business goals. Your leadership will be crucial in managing the product development process from concept to launch, ensuring that all new items are set up effectively and supported with appropriate marketing and promotional strategies. In this hybrid role, you will be expected to develop comprehensive Product Business Plans and manage new items throughout their lifecycle. This includes writing product development briefs, defining product requirements, and continuously improving the customer experience. You will act as a customer proxy, testing products against success criteria and responding to customer feedback to enhance the overall customer journey. Your ability to collaborate on sales, marketing, and merchandising initiatives will be essential, as will your capacity to lead cross-functional teams in optimizing systems and processes that support business needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, simplifying product design for efficiency, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising customer value. As a Senior Product Manager, you will manage a team of up to three direct reports, inspiring trust and fostering an inclusive work environment while driving results and innovation. This role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to facilitate change within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and complete Product Business Plans
  • Manage new items from concept through launch, including new item setup, forecasting, and marketing support
  • Write product development briefs to outline requirements
  • Define product requirements for new and existing product categories
  • Own the success of the product development process and ensure alignment with product goals
  • Elevate the customer experience continuously
  • Act as a customer proxy to test and measure against success criteria
  • Monitor and respond to customer feedback
  • Collaborate on Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising initiatives
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes
  • Meet with customers to understand their perspectives on product, placement, price, and promotion
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Continuously improve and simplify product design for efficiency
  • Identify cost savings without impacting customer experience or value
  • Manage and improve the product assortment for the company's owned private brands
  • Inspire trust, build talent, and create an inclusive work environment
  • Drive for results and innovation, and facilitate change

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business
  • 5-7 years of related work experience, preferably in the food industry, in product or brand management
  • Strong analytical skills to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions from data
  • Ability to manage consumer expectations while balancing company needs
  • Experience in developing and evolving products and product portfolios
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders across multiple business units and senior management
  • Supervisory experience preferred
