About the position

The Sr. Manager, Business Control Testing at Chime is responsible for leading the operational tasks and strategic vision of the control testing team. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing the internal control environment within Operations and Member Services. The position involves developing a robust control testing program, overseeing quality control processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold compliance standards. The role offers a unique opportunity to impact how Chime serves its members while maintaining adherence to banking regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust, risk-based control testing program for Operations and Member Experience teams.
  • Lead a high-performing team conducting control testing activities, including the design and execution of test scripts.
  • Oversee quality control processes across complaint handling and dispute resolution functions, identifying gaps and areas of improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and bank partner expectations.
  • Act as a liaison between Operations, Member Experience, Compliance, Legal, and Risk Management teams.
  • Identify and escalate emerging risks, issues, and root causes related to consumer complaints and dispute handling.
  • Develop and maintain regular reporting of control testing results, QC metrics, and performance indicators.
  • Demonstrate success in leading and developing a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 9+ years of experience in banking or financial services, preferably in control testing, compliance, fraud, dispute, or risk management.
  • Intimate knowledge of consumer financial regulations such as Fair Lending, UDAAP, Reg-E, Reg-Z, FCRA, FDCPA, SCRA.
  • Experience in supporting a control testing function with a leading financial institution or fintech.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to ensure control reporting receives appropriate visibility and action.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex data and identify potential consumer financial protection concerns.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience in a fintech environment with multiple consumer financial products and services.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly while ensuring appropriate transparency and escalation.
