About the position

The University of Miami is seeking a full-time Senior Manager of Business Operations to oversee and enhance the business operations within the UHealth/SoLé Mia department. This role involves managing budgets, financial analysis, and operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with university policies. The position is critical in advancing the strategic financial plan and improving departmental performance through effective management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, implement, coordinate, plan, and evaluate business operations for the department/division.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the department's annual budget in accordance with University guidelines and policies.
  • Participate in financial analysis and planning, monitoring and reporting on monthly budget variances.
  • Advance the strategic financial plan and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Formulate department policies and guidelines to carry out the University and department mission.
  • Oversee the review, approval, and reporting of all expenditures and financial transactions.
  • Create and manage support systems for cost-effective supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor contractual obligations and ensure consistency with departmental budget and goals.
  • Evaluate existing internal controls and recommend improvements for fiscal integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Implement department human resources actions including hiring and performance evaluations.
  • Act as a resource for the Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation system and assist in employee orientation to the EHR.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on essential equipment and maintain a collaborative relationship with all departments involved in patient care.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and maintain storage areas in an orderly manner.
  • Assist with daily review and update of preference cards in the EHR and manage purchase requisitions for the Perioperative Department.
  • Perform clerical duties including faxing, copying, and maintaining office supplies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
