About the position

The Senior Manager, Business Operations at the University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology is responsible for overseeing all business and administrative functions within the department. This includes managing budgets, operations, programs, and personnel administration, as well as providing financial analysis and strategic planning. The role requires collaboration with various levels of management to ensure effective budgetary controls and adherence to university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, implement, coordinate, plan, and evaluate business operations for the department/division.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the department's annual budget according to University guidelines.
  • Participate in financial analysis and planning, monitoring and reporting on monthly budget variances.
  • Advance the strategic financial plan and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Formulate department policies and guidelines to support the University and department mission.
  • Oversee the review, approval, and reporting of all expenditures and financial transactions.
  • Create and manage support systems for cost-effective supplies and management information.
  • Monitor contractual obligations and ensure consistency with departmental budget and goals.
  • Evaluate internal controls and approval processes, recommending improvements for fiscal integrity.
  • Implement human resources actions including hiring and performance evaluations.
  • Recruit, train, and prepare performance reports for staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to manage a budget and work within its constraints.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
