About the position

The Sr. Manager of Data Center Operations at Oracle is responsible for leading and managing teams that ensure the availability and operational excellence of multiple cloud data centers. This role involves strategic planning, team building, and collaboration across various functional areas to support the rapid expansion of Oracle's data center infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical knowledge, and business acumen to drive performance and manage diverse teams effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage teams responsible for the availability of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure in data centers across the Salt Lake City area.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of all Data Center sites in a 24/7 mission-critical environment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of services/tasks to meet project milestones.
  • Guide project managers and provide on-the-ground advice/support.
  • Uphold quality benchmarks for new sites, regions, and deployments.
  • Drive improvements and provide feedback in project reviews and lessons learned activities.
  • Interact across functional areas and teams, including Engineering, Build, and Business Operations.
  • Manage incidents and drive resolution and After-Action analysis.
  • Oversee capacity expansions, including rack additions and new sites.
  • Recruit and hire high-quality team members with a passion for excellence.
  • Foster a culture of continual improvement and learning.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of confirmed IT leadership and management experience in the technology market.
  • Strong knowledge of the Data Center ecosystem, including cooling, electrical, networking, and structured cabling.
  • Experience in vendor relationship management and negotiations.
  • Ability to influence thinking and gain acceptance in sensitive situations.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • BA/BS degree preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing colocation partners.
  • Knowledge of local customs, laws, and employment directives.
  • Experience in talent review processes and performance management.
