FreeWheel, a Comcast company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to oversee a team of Software Development Engineers. This role is pivotal in the planning and designing of software and web applications, ensuring that projects are managed from inception through to testing. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance team to conduct thorough testing and will be responsible for developing both financial and operational objectives that align with the broader business goals. This position contributes significantly to the functional strategy development and has a substantial impact on business results, typically managing one or more groups of professional employees. The core responsibilities of this role include overseeing the planning and design of software and web applications, which encompasses new programs, enhancements, and modifications. The leader will provide guidance to the Software Engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements. Acting as the primary point of contact and liaison between Software Engineering and other teams, the individual will direct implementation initiatives for new software products and applications. Additionally, the role involves organizing the software update process for existing applications and coordinating the rollout of software releases. Managing all deliverables to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets is crucial. The leader will implement performance metrics, prepare periodic reports and proposals, and monitor project progress, reporting findings to the leadership team. Keeping the engineering team updated with the latest technological developments within the industry is essential, as is monitoring and evaluating competitive applications and products. The position also requires providing leadership and direction to department personnel, managing cross-project communications, and exercising independent judgment in significant matters. Regular attendance, including the ability to work nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary, is expected. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
