About the position

The Senior Manager of Data Governance at Baxter is responsible for driving the execution and adherence to the Enterprise Data Governance strategy and framework. This role involves supporting a direct team in their daily responsibilities and acting as a Subject Matter Expert. The position focuses on ensuring data quality, managing stakeholder expectations, and collaborating with various business and IT resources to meet data governance objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Apply operational expertise to deliver on strategic and tactical roadmaps.
  • Understand internal and external stakeholder interactions and manage their expectations.
  • Engage with business and functional resources to assess current and future data needs.
  • Ensure the existence and maintenance of canonical reference models to support business needs.
  • Gather and maintain data flows and landscape documents.
  • Collaborate with privacy and security officers to protect sensitive data, including PII and PHI.
  • Lead data stewards, data analysts, and/or data architects as necessary.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards and policies across the enterprise.
  • Implement data profiling to assess the quality of critical data elements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, law, business, statistics, mathematics, health informatics, finance or related field.
  • 1+ years of related data governance and/or data management experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant past leadership experience.
  • Ability to deliver training and mentoring to direct reports and key business contacts.
  • Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and prioritize effectively.
  • Empathy, curiosity, and a desire to improve and drive results.
  • Demonstrated ability in mentorship and growth of individual team members.
  • Ability to collaborate and build trust with business, IT, and corporate partners.
  • Knowledge of business and technology issues related to enterprise information management.
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations.
  • Proficiency in data architecture, data quality, taxonomies, reporting & analytics, and related data requirements.
  • Direct experience with Data Governance processes and tools.
