About the position

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Governance to join our global data governance team. In this pivotal role, you will partner with senior leadership to manage the Data Governance Office (DGO) and collaborate with data stewards and custodians across the organization. Your primary focus will be to ensure data consistency, quality, and protection to meet the overall organizational needs. You will work closely with technology and business leaders to implement tools and processes that enhance visibility of data throughout the organization. As a Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining data quality rules and enforcing data policies, standards, and practices at various levels including department, business, and functional. You will engage with key business partners to align and manage critical data elements (CDEs) and facilitate necessary decisions to ensure alignment among data domain owners. Additionally, you will oversee the strategic roll-out of the Data Governance program and serve as the main liaison between Business Units and Technology teams. Collaboration with Privacy Compliance, Privacy Operations, Legal, GICS, and Risk teams will be essential to ensure cross-alignment and support. Your role will also involve facilitating training, education, and onboarding of data users within the data governance framework across WBD. You will manage domain council meetings and prepare necessary materials for data council discussions. Furthermore, you will define the roadmaps for implementing and maintaining data governance tools, such as the data catalog and master data management tools, ensuring that the organization adheres to best practices in data governance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal data governance policies.
  • Establish and maintain data governance metrics and KPIs to monitor data quality and data governance effectiveness.
  • Facilitate cross-functional WBD-wide governance meetings and working groups.
  • Work closely with business units, data stewards, data privacy, information security to identify business needs and address data-related issues in alignment with the Data & Shared Services roadmaps.
  • Lead the adoption of the enterprise-wide data catalog, related metadata management, data quality and data observability solutions for a specific data domain.
  • Partner and communicate effectively across departments and stakeholders regarding data governance's objectives, policies, and practices.
  • Prepare regular reports on data governance roadmap, activities and data quality metrics.
  • Act as the key evangelist and authority on the Data Governance program and vision to our stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and mentor junior members of the team, support their development and ensure feedback and performance appraisals are conducted regularly and in accordance to the organization's guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field of study or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field OR may substitute with content management operations experience/skills.
  • Experience with data quality management and metadata management tools is helpful.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with media related processes and data domains is a preferred skill set.
