About the position

Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Governance to join their global data governance team. This role is pivotal in supporting the management of the Data Governance Office (DGO) in collaboration with senior leadership. The Sr. Manager will work closely with data stewards and custodians across the organization to ensure data consistency, quality, and protection, aligning with the overall organizational needs. The position involves partnering with technology and business leaders to implement tools and processes that enhance visibility of data throughout the organization. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for maintaining data quality rules and enforcing data policies, standards, and practices at various levels including department, business, and functional levels. In this role, the Sr. Manager will engage with key business partners to align and manage critical data elements (CDEs) and facilitate necessary decisions to ensure alignment among data domain owners. The strategic rollout of the Data Governance program will be a key responsibility, acting as the main liaison between Business Units and Technology teams. Collaboration with Privacy Compliance, Privacy Operations, Legal, GICS, and Risk teams is essential to ensure cross-alignment and support. The Sr. Manager will also be accountable for facilitating training, education, and onboarding of data users within the data governance framework across WBD, managing domain council meetings, and preparing materials for data council meetings. Additionally, the role includes defining roadmaps for implementing and maintaining data governance tools such as data catalogs and master data management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal data governance policies.
  • Establish and maintain data governance metrics and KPIs to monitor data quality and data governance effectiveness.
  • Facilitate cross-functional WBD-wide governance meetings and working groups.
  • Work closely with business units, data stewards, data privacy, information security to identify business needs and address data-related issues in alignment with the Data & Shared Services roadmaps.
  • Lead the adoption of the enterprise-wide data catalog, related metadata management, data quality and data observability solutions for a specific data domain.
  • Partner and communicate effectively across departments and stakeholders regarding data governance's objectives, policies, and practices.
  • Prepare regular reports on data governance roadmap, activities and data quality metrics.
  • Act as the key evangelist and authority on the Data Governance program and vision to our stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and mentor junior members of the team, support their development and ensure feedback and performance appraisals are conducted regularly and in accordance to the organization's guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration or similar field of study or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field OR may substitute with content management operations experience/skills.
  • Experience with data quality management and metadata management tools is helpful.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with media related processes and data domains is a preferred skill set.
