About the position

The Sr Manager, Data Tools and Platforms at Gia-Pacific is responsible for leading a team of data tools and technology engineers. This role focuses on the selection, implementation, operations, and maintenance of the GP Data tools ecosystem, playing a crucial role in shaping the company's data strategy. The position emphasizes efficient and cost-effective tools that support data quality, governance, and analytics, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance in a Principle Based Management culture.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a talented team in the design, implementation, and support of enterprise data tools.
  • Develop and execute the data tools strategy in alignment with data and analytics strategic goals.
  • Drive selection, implementation, and support of a strong and integrated tools framework for key data functions.
  • Identify potential operational and financial risks and oversee the stability of the data tools ecosystem.
  • Oversee multiple projects ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Champion process and tools adoption across the enterprise to promote efficiency and best practices.
  • Partner in establishing and enforcing data governance policies and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and innovate tools and services to evolve the data ecosystem roadmap.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their data needs and communicate technical concepts effectively.

Requirements

  • Experience in data and analytics roles with a proven track record leading a managed ecosystem of data tools and platforms.
  • Experience in overseeing data warehousing, data engineering, and BI development projects from conception to delivery.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data governance, and data management best practices.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and delivering projects using Agile methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Advanced data analytics knowledge including statistical analysis, predictive, and machine learning.
  • Experience with highly scalable data processing and consumption tools.
  • Knowledge of modern data practices including data products, machine learning, and data science.
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Certifications in cloud technologies or data engineering.
