About the position

The Sr Manager, Finance at Thermo Fisher Scientific plays a crucial role in providing financial and business leadership to the Materials & Structural Analysis (MSD) group. This position involves overseeing financial planning and analysis, supporting operational improvements, and developing a strong finance team. The role requires collaboration with various leaders within the organization to drive informed decision-making and ensure financial performance aligns with strategic business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Quarterly Business Review (QBR), Strategic Plan (STRAP), Monthly Business Review (MBR), and Outlooks in a matrixed financial forecast.
  • Supervise and analyze financials, including leading monthly and quarterly reporting on revenue, gross margin, OPEX, KPIs, and CAPEX.
  • Conduct data analysis for the business and support ad-hoc internal, group, or corporate requests as needed.
  • Analyze financial and business performance against key metrics and identify pertinent financial highlights to understand progress against strategic business plans.
  • Deploy the best tools and methods to communicate sophisticated data and topics effectively.
  • Identify, communicate, and lead risk and opportunities within the financial landscape.
  • Develop, mentor, and provide leadership to a team of financial analysts while fostering positive relationships across the Group and Company.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting is required.
  • 7+ years of direct experience in financial analysis, reporting, and accounting within a large company.
  • Prior experience in a large global company and highly matrixed organization is essential.
  • Proficient in understanding and communicating the financial implications of business decisions and dynamics.
  • Strong finance skills with experience in financial reporting, internal control, forecasting, analysis, and accounting knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Business partnership, Commercial, FPA consolidation, or Operations FPA background is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with HFM/CMR, QAD is preferred.
