About the position

The Program Management Office (PMO) Leader at Amazon is responsible for designing the framework and governance for the Global Procurement Organization's (GPO) large-scale projects and programs. This role involves overseeing a team of program managers and leading strategic initiatives that enhance project performance and optimize processes. The PMO Leader collaborates with various stakeholders to implement global improvement strategies aligned with business objectives and ensures successful project outcomes through effective program management.

Responsibilities

  • Design the framework and governance for GPO's large-scale projects and programs.
  • Oversee a team of program managers to lead cross-GPO pillar strategic initiatives.
  • Drive project performance enhancements and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with GPO Leaders, sponsors, partners, and stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Architect and realize comprehensive global improvement strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Partner with GPO Pillar single-threaded leaders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Create and execute a GPO Program Management Forum to enable the delivery of GPO's vision and strategic imperatives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of team management experience.
  • Strong understanding of performance improvement methodologies, root cause analysis, and change management.
  • Demonstrated leadership with proven ability to bring multiple complex projects to successful completion.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams.
  • Experience defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics.
  • Experience building processes, project planning, and schedules.
  • Experience using PM tools (i.e., Asana, MS Project, etc.).
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.
  • Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization.
  • PMP certificate.
