About the position

The Senior Manager, Infrastructure Development at Republic Services plays a crucial role in facilitating the growth of the organization through all phases of the development process. This position is integral to the Corporate Business Development team and reports directly to the Director of Development. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with Market, Area, and corporate teams throughout the development process, ensuring that all projects align with the company's strategic goals and operational standards. In this role, the Senior Manager will support the Managers of Business Development in identifying, sourcing, and strategically evaluating development opportunities. This includes leading site selection, preliminary designs, and cost estimates for various development projects. The Senior Manager will also provide essential support for business case and proforma models, ensuring that all financial aspects of development projects are thoroughly analyzed and reported. A significant part of the role involves leading and managing the permitting process for development projects, which can often be complex and controversial. The Senior Manager will provide leadership and oversight for the Managers and Project Execution teams during the development, construction, and startup phases of all projects. Additionally, the Senior Manager will support acquisitions as needed, particularly in areas related to due diligence, capital planning, and integration. The position requires the development and presentation of reports to various levels of leadership, highlighting project plans, risks, status updates, budget considerations, and any other issues related to development projects. Mentorship and assistance to the Project Development Team will also be a key responsibility, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. This position may require travel up to 50% of the time, reflecting the need for on-site engagement and relationship building within the environmental services industry. The Senior Manager will perform other job-related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Managers of Business Development to identify, source, and strategically evaluate development opportunities.
  • Lead site selection, preliminary designs, and cost estimates for development projects.
  • Provide support for business case and proforma models for development projects.
  • Lead and manage all permitting processes.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Managers, Project Execution in the development, construction, and startup of all development projects.
  • Support acquisitions as needed for due diligence, capital planning, and integration.
  • Develop and present reports to various levels of leadership that highlight project plans, risks, status, budget updates, and all other issues related to development projects.
  • Mentor and assist the Project Development Team as assigned.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10 years of environmental services industry experience with facility/process/operational experience.
  • Experience in permitting controversial and complex waste facilities and processes.
  • Experience managing a project budget in excess of $5 million.
  • Experience in developing project development budgets and reports.
  • Long-term operational experience in the environmental services industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of general business experience, preferably in a capital-intensive industry.
