About the position

The Sr Manager, International Operations at American Airlines is responsible for leading the activities of the international hub operation at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). This role involves real-time operational planning, communication with various functional groups and vendors, and ensuring optimal station performance. The manager will interface with airport authorities and lead efforts to enhance customer experience and operational excellence while fostering a diverse and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end activities of the CLT International Hub operation.
  • Serve as a liaison between American Airlines and TSA, CBP, CLT Airport, and vendors to optimize operations.
  • Create and maintain rapport with airport authorities and vendors for efficient operational processes.
  • Participate in airport-related committees and activities on behalf of American Airlines.
  • Collaborate with leadership of international stations to ensure seamless customer experience.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize customer experience and flow within FIS.
  • Continuously review and enhance processes for international customer and baggage connectivity.
  • Ensure compliance with American's standards, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Be visible to ensure high service levels from team members and vendors.
  • Ensure team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for operational excellence.
  • Cultivate a work environment that promotes diversity and teamwork.
  • Manage vendors to ensure service delivery as per contracts and agreements.
  • Prepare reports on international operations performance and improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience/training.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Previous management experience and knowledge of AA policies and procedures (preferred).
  • Ability to inspire team spirit and shared vision.
  • Ability to develop team skills through coaching and training.
  • Willingness to adapt and lead the team through changes.
  • Effective listening and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish action plans and manage time effectively.
  • Readiness to make decisions and take action based on information evaluation.

  • Ability to manage various work groups and handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
