About the position

As a Sr. Manager in IT Program Management at Schwab, you will oversee complex, cross-functional technology infrastructure projects within the Stock Plan Services team. Your role will involve planning, scheduling, and tracking projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives. You will collaborate with various teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions while maintaining excellent customer support and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple IT projects (e.g., data center migrations, network upgrades) using project management best practices and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Proactively identify potential risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and lead efforts to resolve project-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Lead project teams, including IT engineers, architects, and vendors, providing guidance, mentorship, and conflict resolution to ensure project success.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project schedules, meeting notes, confluence pages, and JIRA stories.
  • Ensure all technology projects comply with relevant security policies, regulatory requirements, and IT standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing and refining infrastructure processes and project management methodologies.
  • Deliver assignments on time, taking ownership and helping the team stay focused.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of project management experience handling large, sophisticated, and cross-functional IT projects with an emphasis on infrastructure systems including Server, Network, and Database technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience with Atlassian tool stack (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with waterfall, agile, and scaled agile (SAFe) methodologies.

  • Previous success working in a distributed and complex environment.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, drive decision-making, and resolve conflicts while meeting stakeholder needs and managing expectations through effective partnership.
  • Strong end-to-end project management and planning experience.
  • Experience executing work under ambiguous situations, with limited information.
  • Sound business and technical acumen.
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Proven ability to apply IT Service Management best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
