About the position

As a Senior Logistics Manager - TMS Optimization at Target, you will play a pivotal role in managing the daily operations of the Transportation Management System (TMS) Optimization for Target's Domestic First Mile freight. This position requires a forward-thinking individual who can rethink and redesign how our logistics network could evolve in the future to achieve systematic cost savings. You will be responsible for managing the intake of new requests from various business owners and owning the vision for the future of freight optimization at Target. Your primary focus will be on leading the development and implementation of innovative TMS strategies through cross-functional systemic solutions. This will involve not only your own work but also leading initiatives through effective relationship management across multiple critical business and technology stakeholders. You will ensure that Target's Domestic First Mile network maintains an effective TMS optimization solution that aligns with Target's broader supply chain and organizational goals, balancing cost, capacity, and service effectively. A key initiative you will lead is the routing and optimization arm of the Mile Agnostic initiative, which is a significant Global Transportation priority aimed at breaking down existing silos across critical business processes and technology functions. In this role, you will leverage your strong leadership skills to create and continuously iterate on the routing and optimization strategy through collaboration with senior leadership and operational, procurement, and technology partners. You will maintain a comprehensive understanding of Target's transportation network to develop innovative and successful TMS routing and optimization solutions. Your ability to lead and manage without direct reporting authority in a cross-functional environment will be crucial to delivering against common goals. You will also be responsible for presenting the routing and optimization strategy and results to partners and senior leadership regularly, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged in the process.

Responsibilities

• Leverage strong leadership skills for the creation and ongoing iteration of routing and optimization strategy through collaboration with senior leadership & operational, procurement and technology partners.
• Maintain comprehensive understanding of Target transportation network to create innovative and successful TMS routing/optimization solutions.
• Lead routing and optimization strategy through in-depth understanding of Blue Yonder TMS solution and its customized use at Target.
• Deliver creative problem solutions that balance system capabilities with requests of business and technology owners.
• Establish and maintain effective partnerships with operational and technology partners, including external Blue Yonder team.
• Present routing and optimization strategy and subsequent results to partners and senior leadership regularly.
• Monitor, review performance of and provide regular updates on implemented changes with operational teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and 7 years of progressive supply chain, logistics or transportation experience.
• Proven experience with technical aspects of Blue Yonder TMS (or equivalent), ideally with a large complex national shipper.
• Proven ability to efficiently solve complex problems and create strategy.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skillset.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate through all levels of the organization including senior leadership.
• Clear communication and presentation skills.
• Strong relationship management skills, with preferred experience managing vendor/carrier relationships.
• Proven ability to effectively collaborate with multiple business partners (internal and external).
• Strong proficiency and ability to understand, manipulate and pull insights from large data sets.
• Strong technical acumen across SQL & Python.
• Strong understanding of transportation industry, specifically truckload and intermodal.
• Experience managing large, complex projects.
